Food Paradise

Screen Shot 2015-07-04 at 12.45.21 PMWhile shooting Bachelor in Paradise in Mexico, I ate about six meals a day…for fun…all of which consisted of cheese. I ate least a taco a day, a couple cheese quesadillas, chips on chips, pasta, a pound of guac, a few strips of bacon, and some tropical mai tais. Honestly, that’s just a quarter of my daily Paradise intake. Not to mention, a lot of us girls were dealing with significant water weight due to the inescapable heat and humidity and high amounts of sodium in the food. We certainly weren’t feeling our prettiest selves and I’m sure you’ll hear more about this when the show airs. When I got home, it was time to detox.

“Diet” Fave!

I’m not a diet girl in the sense that I refuse to ever feel hungry. I always try to eat healthily and keep my calorie intake under 1600 a day at the very most. That being said, I eat at least a cheeseburger a week along with creamy pasta and carb-y, mayo slathered subs. I explain my daily eating routine and mentality in the blog Please, Don’t Kill Me.

I will never count my calories on vacation or while taping a Bachelor show with unlimited amounts of free deliciousness. If food the food is free, Ashley will be inhaling it. Right, Costco?

Screen Shot 2015-07-04 at 12.43.52 PMOnce the food stops being a free-for-all, it’s time to get serious. My detox consists of the following for 14-days:

-No fried foods -No soda or alcohol -No white carbs -Low sodium -Dark chocolate only for dessert -Very limited amounts of processed foods and red meat -Lots of WATER (often with lemon)

Sounds simple, right?! Well, it’s not that easy when your family is eating pizza and fluffy rolls next to you. BUT! I make sure to keep everything I’m “allowed” to eat tasting pretty good. Here are items you can find on my detox shopping list…

-Pomegranate seeds -Avocados -100% whole wheat wraps -Trader Joe’s Cowboy Veggie burgers w/ quinoa, black bean, and corn -Kale -Dark chocolate almonds & raisins -Eggs -Tomato -Lox & light cream cheese (go light on it) -Turkey -Strawberries -Quinoa chips & salsa -Hummus -100% fresh squeezed grapefruit juice -Tuna -Cod -Sweet potatoes

It’s been a week and I’ve lost 2 pounds, but that’s not the point. I feel so much better! I’ve lost the puff to my face and see my cheekbones again! I’ve noticed so much improvement by eating so cleanly that it keeps me going for the next week…if not longer!

    I never count calories but I definitely eat less healthy on holiday than I do at home. Detoxing after a vacations is definitely a must 🙂
