Sometimes I can’t even talk about my love for *NSYNC, because words can’t really describe the feelings they stirred in me in my preteens. I sometimes think they were my first love. All my senses were heightened. I walked around high on *NSYNC, headphones always on and yellow walkman always in hand. I even had my photo in a couple of teeny bopper magazines because my room was covered in over 350+ posters and pinups. Thanks to my mom for submitting me! In school, if kids didn’t know my name, they referred to me as “the *NSYNC girl.” I was so proud of that title.
A couple of months ago, my friend was DJing Lance Bass’s assistant’s 40th birthday party. As I slyly scoped out the scene to properly fan girl on him, he came up to me! He said, “Oh hi there!” And I said, “Did my sister tell you I was coming and that I’m a huge fan. He said, “No, I’m just a huge fan of yours.” I died (in a fan girl sense of the word, of course.) He told me to mark my calendar because *NSYNC would publicly appear together for the first time in years for their star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on April 30. Man, oh, man, did I mark my calendar.
Access gave me the event to cover and it was their lead story that night! Not only did I get to see *NSYNC up close in a way I never had (I did have 6th row at the Pop Odyssey tour though), but I was also reporting on something I never thought I’d have the opportunity to in my wildest dreams. Not for lack of talent, but because few outlets got access to the event and mostly because *NSYNC never seems to get together. Watch fantasies actualized in the video below. 🙂
