LASHley: Part 1

LASHley: Part 1

I find it funny that people think I glued strip lashes to my lids before The Bachelor pool party or the camping trip. I’d say, “So what?!” if I did though. Your typical pool party isn’t being seen by 7 million people BTW. I admitted my biggest beauty secret a couple of weeks ago in the Yes, My Lashes Are Mine post. In case you missed it, my lashes have extensions. That’s why they don’t fall off when I cry, which as you know now happens on the reg.

People either love my lashes or hate them. They either want them or they call them creepy spiders. If you’re on my beauty blog, I’m guessing you like them and therefore, I like your style.

A few weeks ago, my wonderful lash tech, Lei at Pretty Girls Make Faces, said it would be best to take my lashes off for a couple of days and start with a fresh set. She advised that my eyes needed a rest. I agreed…and then I saw my bare lashes. My eyes bugged out a la Carrie at the horror of natural lashes. I just couldn’t believe how accustom to the extensions I got over the course of 9 months.

My apparent lash extension dependency made me rethink the initial decision to get them. I still don’t know if I could ever give up the addiction. Sad. I’ll be 90 at the lash salon. In all honesty and hilarity though, my 91-year-old grandmother just gave up wearing falsies about 3 years ago because of cataracts. She hasn’t had the same spunk ever since, poor thing.

Rapid Lash: Lash Growth Serum

Rapid Lash: Lash Growth Serum

After a little thought, I knew I didn’t actually regret getting the extensions. However, it reminded me of a crucial part of my lash regimine that I have now reimplemented and must inform y’all about. The very special product I refer to is RAPID LASH!

Rapid Lash is a safe serum that you brush onto your lash line and after just 4 weeks you’ll see a noticeable improvement in the thickness, length, and overall condition of your eyelashes. There’s also Rapid Eyebrow to help grow ya some brows if you’re lacking in that department. As you can guess, I haven’t ventured there.

When I initially started using this product a couple of years ago, I couldn’t believe the difference in such a short amount of time. My mom had the nubbiest, Dutch girl eyelashes her whole life even after applying awesome mascaras (LASHley: Part 2). After using Rapid Lash, my mom’s lashes are gorgeous! Despite my efforts, she won’t get extensions…and truthfully, really doesn’t need them. (No one actually NEEDS them… I guess.)

I noticed my natural lashes became sparser and shorter-seeming after extensions. Sad and hard to admit, but true. Because of this, I started using Rapid Lash again to help condition my lashes. After all, the stronger and longer my natural lashes are, the denser my lashes with extensions can be and the longer the extensions will last. It depends on the website whether or not they recommend using Rapid Lash with extensions, but I haven’t encountered any problems thus far.

*Helpful application tip* Make sure to apply the serum as close as possible to your lash line. If you get sloppy, you may start growing a second row of lashes. That’s right, I was getting little hairs popping up on my lids. Hey, at least it’s proof the product works!

Rapid Lash can be found at some drug stores, but I like to buy it on Amazon because it’s usually a bit cheaper. It retails at $49.95 and each tube will last approximately 2 months. It’s a lot cheaper than lash extensions!

This is one of my beauty secrets!! I’ve been using this for years, and it really works. I started using it after tried lash extensions. The extensions were AMAZING until I got the bill and they grew out. Some of my real lashes fell out too. My friends in the spa/beauty industry tell me lots of other oils will have a similar effect if near the lash line, like castor oil. I usually use jojoba oil on my face for extra moisture and for my brows and lashes! One of my beauty splurges is actually good mascara. My lashes aren’t on any amazing level, but I’m actually happy with them when Rapidlash/oil and Dior is applied!

I had lash extensions installed when I had a baby. When i finally couldn’t make the appointments for upkeep, my sad, gimpy sparce lashes made me so sad! This always happens to me if I’m using strips or individual lashes too. Boo. I bought some generic latisse off amazon from a lady for $35; since latisse is a real prescription, you can buy the drops and use them in the same way! Game changer. People would ask me if they were extensions, which I feel is the real deal when it comes to compliments. Ask me if my hair is fake and I kiss your mouth. Anyway, theres my two cents. I can give you her info if you want it- she doesn’t sell on Amazon anymore. Your blog cracks me up, kid. And I hope you don’t win on the bachelor because Prince Farming is a couple told short of a set.

Quick question for you LASHley! 🙂 I had eyelash extensions for some time and got rid of them because I like to wear top eyeliner and dramatic eyeshadow, and you have to be so gentle with extensions that I could barely take all my makeup off without rubbing my extensions off. How do you apply hard crusty mascara to your extensions and also remove your makeup without ripping out your extensions? My friend has gotten extensions for years and also swears by the rule that you can’t wear mascara with extensions, so I just want to know your trick!!

Also, how did you get fills when you were on the Bachelor? Do they take care of that for you ladies TOO?

Lastly, you are kick-ass and all my friends say you remind them of me, on the inside and out. Couldn’t be more of a compliment. Keep it up!

I love this message! Thank you Gina! During the week in Deadwood, I was applying individual lashes to fill in. The couple of us with extensions, like Britt, were losing a bit at that point. So they bought me a pack of individuals. My mascara removal technique takes care. I think I’m going to video blog my bedtime routine soon as requested by some…You’re awesome. You keep kicking ass

Anyway I REALLY need help with this for some reason lately I have seen some lashes grow on top of my eyelid. Like you said on your blog post you noticed some hair grow on the eyelid because of the serum. But how did you get rid of them?? P.s I recommend you do a blog post on your favourite makeup items or the makeup items you keep in your makeup bag. Lots of Love Maryama. ??

They weren’t really too noticeable to anyone other than me. I just gave the Rapid Lash a little break.
