The Most Devastating First-World Problem

The Most Devastating First-World Problem

My foundation was discontinued. My beloved, Dream Smooth Mousse. The foundation that made my skin appear to be flawless on The Bachelor and Bachelor in Paradise is gone. Do you know what this feels like?! It’s like I’ve been ghosted by Maybelline. One day, without warning, it left the shelf.

I expressed my disappointment to Maybelline through Twitter. They gave me this BS…

Upgrade? Psh. Of course, I tried out Maybelline’s new Dream Velvet foundation and it’s a completely different texture. No Sephora brand could come close to my love for this cheap stuff I bought from CVS. I loved Smooth Mousse because it was like hydrating paint for my skin. It had heavy coverage that didn’t look heavy and it never broke me out. It made me so glowy. Remember, beach glowy?!

IMG_2435Just like after being ghosted by a guy, I decided it was time to put myself out there and find a new beau. In this case, Sephora is Bumble. I liked that Cover FX’s Total Cover Cream Foundation came in the same form as Smooth mousse and had a similar consistency and coverage. I also LOVED the range of colors the brand has available. They had a great selection of yellow bases to cover up my rudy complexion. I thought I found my replacement until a couple of days into use, I started getting pimples on my cheeks. GRR!!

* NOTE * Sephora has a great return policy. You can return pretty much everything within 60 days, receipt or not, as long as it’s less than halfway used. HOWEVER, avoid returns all together by asking for product samples. There have been so many times I’ve decided not to purchase
a product after  a week’s use.

Naturally, I ran back to my love, and ordered a ton of Maybelline’s Dream Smooth Mousse on Amazon. It’ll last me about 6 months…Until then…

Another favorite product I’ve sadly come to realize has been discontinued is Tarte’s Maracuja Oil wipes. These wipes removed my makeup without any stinging. Luckily I’ve found wonderful replacements. I like Burt’s Bee’s Sensitive Facial Cleansing Towelettes for eye makeup removal and Caudalie’s Instant Foaming Cleanser to take off face makeup. Following this I wash my face with a mix of Panoxyl and Rodan & Fields Soothe Gentle Cream Wash…we’ll discuss this miracle product later in the week.

Have you tried the Kat Von D foundation at Sephora? It is ah-mazing!!!!!! I have super oily skin, also acne problems, currently on aczone and retin-A. The KVD stays on all day, doesn’t need touch ups and keeps my oil at bay. Makes my skin look flawless, I seriously get so many compliments on my face/skin when I wear it!! I would def recommend getting a sample from Sephora and trying it!!

I actually use dinair airbrush makeup and it does wonders for me. I get lots of compliments. I use the “colair radiance” collection. I am a Sephora junkie as well so my backup foundation is “makeup forever”. I hope this helps!

You sent me into a panic after I saw your post. Went to Walmart and was so glad they still carried it there. I was able to stock up. I had found that they only carried it at some drug stores in my area (Walmart and Ulta always had it, but Walgreens and CVS did not). I hope you can find some in your Walmart.

I combine AmorePacific Color Control Cushion Compact with Sephora’s airbrush foundation. The combination gives a similar coverage, look, and feel.

Maybelline says they upgraded it, all they did was give you less and upped the price, they even took away our application sponge. Very disappointed.
Why not just leave it up to each individual to choose which they can purchase? BRING IT BACK,,, PLEASE.

I’m so mad that Maybelline discontinued this. I don’t like the texture of the dream velvet foundation.
I don’t need to look like a corpse.

I sent them a review on their website about their so called upgrade and let them know how upset I was that they discontinued the mousse, and they rejected my review and wouldn’t post it. Considering it was so popular, I’m wondering if they sold the formula to a higher end brand….and if so, what brand that might be? Probably some company that’s going to charge $50.00 for what we paid $8.00!
